The Field Services Division includes the Patrol and Investigations Sections.
Officers assigned to our Patrol Section provide 20 hour patrol services to the Dallas community. Patrol officers work 12-hour shifts, the Day Shift running from 7:00am until 7:oopm and the Night Shift running from 7:00pm until 7:00am. Officers are organized into four squads, two day shift and two for night shift. Typically, there are two officers and one supervisor (sergeant) on each squad.
Our Criminal Investigations Section (CIS) is currently staffed by four criminal investigators. Two detectives are assigned to investigate persons and property crimes and one is assigned to work with our county’s inter-agency drug task force (POINT). The three detectives are supervised by a detective sergeant who also carries a caseload and manages CIS activities
