The first step you will need to take is to get a Street Tree Permit from the City of Dallas. The species, quantity, and planting location must be reviewed and approved by the Public Works Department.
City of Dallas has many street trees along residential and downtown streets. These trees benefit the whole community, but not every tree is a good fit at any given location. Each tree species will do best with certain growing conditions. The list below is provided to help you select a tree that is a good choice for your planting location.
Contact the Public Works Department to request a site evaluation. A City of Dallas staff member will visit your site, speak with you, and determine final approval of street tree choices.
