2015-03-24 Citizen Survey

Dear City of Dallas Citizens and Businesses,

The City of Dallas Mayor, Councilors and senior management team are committed to providing the best possible municipal services for the citizens and businesses.  We want to know how community members view the services provided as well as the general livability of our City.  To better understand how we are doing in your eyes, we decided to survey the citizens every 2 years.  The first survey of its kind was conducted in early 2013 by Advanced Marketing Research Inc. and the results are available on the City’s website.

The citizens provided helpful feedback in the 2013 survey and we have used it to make a number of improvements and/or service adjustments.  Some of those improvements we have made include: a facelift to the historic downtown including a large streetscape project and a façade grant program for downtown buildings; a new citizen budget document which makes it much easier to understand the City’s budget which can be found on the City’s website or picked up at City Hall; a new Dallas City app for smart phones and tablets making it quick and simple to go to the most visited web pages on the City’s website; we increased the number of yearly City newsletters from 6 to 12 so everyone would have 
more up-to-date information on events, activities and services and finally the Police Department started surveying community members who had contact with Police officers and staff to see how they felt about their experiences.  These are just a few of the things we implemented based on the feedback from the 2013 citizen survey.

Monday, March 16, 2015 Barbra Tull, President of Advanced Marketing Research Inc., presented the results of the 2015 City of Dallas Citizen Survey results.  Advanced Marketing Research conducted a 12 minute telephone survey with just over 400 Dallas citizens. Barbra reported that overall the 2015 results closely mirrored the 2013 results and, most importantly, a very large majority of our citizens love living in Dallas.  To view the results of the 2015 citizen survey as well as Barbra Tull’s City Council presentation you can go to http://www.ci.dallas.or.us/index.aspx?nid=657.
