South Dallas Urban Renewal District

South Dallas URD

In September 2022, the City of Dallas created the South Dallas Urban Renewal District. This new District encompasses over 423 acres of land in the southern part of the city, comprising mostly industrial-zoned properties. The District Plan includes 15 identified project areas in two broad categories: 1) Public infrastructure, facilities & planning; and 2) Private sector/ economic development investments. The District centers around the former Dallas Mill Site, reflecting a top City Council priority goal to facilitate the redevelopment of the Mill Site.

What we hope to accomplish within this District:

  • Redevelop the Dallas Mill Site
  • Provide additional Commercial and Industrial development opportunities
  • Address & improve infrastructure in the area
  • Improve transportation in and through the area
  • Help to create new jobs & investment

The South Dallas Urban Renewal District Advisory Committee serves as the advisory body for the district.
