Summer Reading Program

Quick & Easy Online Registration for Summer Reading Program for all ages 0-100!
Online sign-ups begin in early June. Reading Trackers and entry forms will be available at the library when you check out your books!

Geisel Award - Theodor Seuss Geisel Award
The Theodor Seuss Geisel Award is given annually to the author(s) and illustrator(s) of the most distinguished American book for beginning readers published in English in the United States during the preceding year.

Children's Literature - Legacy Award Children's Literature Legacy
The Children's Literature Legacy Award honors an author or illustrator whose books, published in the United States, have made, over a period of years, a substantial and lasting contribution to literature for children.
 

Oregon State/Northwest Awards

ORCA - ORCA
The Oregon Reader's Choice Award was founded in 2010. The award is intended to be a fun and exciting way for Oregon youth in grades 4-12 to become enthusiastic and discriminating readers. During the course of the school year, Oregon students choose their favorite book in a real-life democratic process.

Young Reader's Choice Award - YRCA Award
The Young Reader's Choice Award is an annual book award chosen by students from the Pacific Northwest. It is run by the Pacific Northwest Library Association, and was established in 1940.

Beverly Cleary Children's Choice Award - Beverly Cleary Children's Choice Award
The Beverly Cleary Children's Choice Award (BCCCA), sponsored by the Oregon Association of School Libraries (then the Oregon Educational Media Association), was established in the spring of 2002.
 

Homeschooling Resources

If you're new to home schooling, stop by the Parenting Shelf in the Children's Room to pick up a copy of the Homeschooling Resource Guide. You'll find information about Oregon laws and regulations, homeschooling organizations, curriculum retailers, and suggested materials organized by subject area that can be found in the Chemeketa Cooperative Regional Library System. internet sites for homeschooling families are also listed, as are periodicals and 4-H resources. This guide is free and was published with funds from the Ready to Read grant that is distributed through the Oregon State Library.
