TEMPORARY NOTICE
The Dallas Police Department’s Animal Control position is currently vacant; therefore, Dallas PD currently does not have an animal control member to tend to minor dog violations such as dogs off-leash or dogs running at large.
If you wish to report a noise violation due to a barking dog, or other violations of our Public Nuisance ordinances, please contact:
- City of Dallas Code Services at 503-831-3512
- Report a Concern
If you have a non-emergency, animal-related crime to report inside the city of Dallas, please call:
- Dallas Police non-emergency police phone line at 503-831-3516
If you have a dog-related matter outside of the city of Dallas, you may contact:
- Polk County Sheriff’s Office Dog/Animal Control program at 503-623-9251
- https://www.co.polk.or.us/sheriff/doganimal-control
If your concern relates to wildlife, you may contact:
- Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife, https://www.dfw.state.or.us/
- Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division, https://www.oregon.gov/osp/programs/fw/Pages/default.aspx
Some of the common concerns our animal control officer can assist you with include:
- Aggressive or dangerous dog concern
- Animal hit by a car
- Barking dog disturbance
- Dog bite
- Dogs running at-large
- Educational presentations
- Neglect or abuse of an animal
Because there are no ordinances relating to cats, and because our animal control facility is not equipped to house animals other than dogs, we normally don't respond to cat-related issues unless animal neglect or abuse are involved. We can however offer suggestions to remedy situations involving cats, including outside resources that may be able to assist you.
