Dallas City Park

Spanning 35 acres, Dallas City Park is the largest park in town, hosting numerous community events, family gatherings, and company picnics. 

The park offers a wide range of amenities for convenience and comfort, including: 

  • A creek with a swimming hole
  • An 18-hole disc golf course
  • 5 basketball courts
  • Numerous BBQ pits
  • 1 reservable kitchen
  • 5 horseshoe pits
  • 2 fireplaces
  • 2 playground areas

Picnic and Gathering Spaces: 

  • Approximately 100 picnic tables
  • 2 shelters
  • Several sinks
  • 2 sets of restrooms 

Trails and Gardens: 

  • Paved trails for exercise and relaxation
  • 7 acre Hunter Arboretum
  • Japanese Garden 

Seasonal Information: 

The park is open year-round, with a summer reservation season from May 1 to September 30. Over 50,000 people visit the parks and its picnic facilities each year. 

Important Dates and Hours: 

  • Water and restrooms are available for April to Octobers
  • Restrooms are available from 8:00 am top 7:00 pm during summer months
  • A portable restroom is available after-hours and during winter months

Disc Golf: 

The park features an 18-hole disc golf course, expertly designed for enthusiasts of all skill levels. 

Delbert Hunter Arboretum: 

Located on 7 acres at the south end of the park, the arboretum and botanical garden promotes awareness and appreciation of Oregon's native flora. 

  • Open to visitors during park hours
  • Visitors Center open Tuesdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
  • Volunteers opportunities available 

Japanese Garden: 

Accessible via a bridge from the Brandvold section, the newly restored Japanese Garden offers a tranquil setting with meandering paths, waterfall, pond, and traditional vegetation. 

Directions: 

To reach Dallas City Park:

  • Take Ellendale Ave west and turn south onto Levens Street.
  • For the Brandvold section (401 SW Levens St.), turn west onto Brandvold Drive.
  • For the Park Gazebo section (600 SW Allgood St.), continue on Levens to Academy St. and turn west. 

Disc Golf

A 9-hole disc golf course was added to the park in September 2009.  In 2010, an additional 9 holes were added.  This 18-hole course is expertly laid out for disc golf enthusiasts of all skill levels.

Delbert Hunter Arboretum

The Delbert Hunter Arboretum and Botanic Garden is situated on 5 acres of undeveloped land at the south end of Dallas City Park. The arboretum is dedicated to promotion, awareness, knowledge, and appreciation of Oregon's native trees, shrubs, and wildflowers.

The arboretum is open to visitors during park hours. The visitors center is open each Tuesday from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Volunteer opportunities are available.

Japanese Garden

A bridge from the Brandvold section of the park leads you to the Japanese Garden. This tranquil setting includes meandering paths throughout the garden, a waterfall, pond, and traditional vegetation.

Directions

To get to Dallas City Park, take Ellendale Avenue west and turn south onto Levens Street. To access the Brandvold (“new”) section of the park located at 401 Southwest Levens Street, turn west onto Brandvold Drive. To reach the Park Gazebo (“old”) section of the park located at 600 Southwest Allgood Street, continue on Levens to Academy Street. Turn west on Academy, and continue one block until you reach the park.
