Park Reservations

General Overview 

For your enjoyment, all the Dallas City parks are available for use on a first come, first serve basis, except in the Dallas City Park where there is also a seasonal reservation system available from May 1 to September 30 for the Brandvold Kitchen area (north of Rickreall Creek), the Gazebo and the Seibert/Frederickson Memorial Shelter (both south of Rickreall Creek). While in the Dallas City Parks, patrons are expected to follow the Park Rules.

Fees

The Brandvold Kitchen, Seibert Fredrickson Shelter and Gazebo areas have power and water available. John C. Barnard Gazebo does not have power or water at this time. 

The reservation fee is $20 an hour. All fees are figured in hour increments.

January 1 through September 30 reservations can be made online or over the phone. All other
dates are a first come first serve basis.

Gazebo Shelter

Gazebo

Located on the south side of the park, accessed via Southwest Academy Street, the historic gazebo is a beloved landmark for many park users. As the oldest shelter in the park, this rustic structure offers unique charm and amenities, including: 

  • A fireplace for gatherings and events
  • Electrical outlets for convenience
  • Six covered picnic tables, providing ample seating for groups

The gazebo can accommodate 50 to 100 people, making it an ideal venue for various events and activities. 

 

Brandvold Kitchen Shelter

Brandvold Kitchen Area

Located on the North side of the park, the Brandvold Kitchen area is accessible via multiple entrances: 

  • Brandvold Drive and Southwest Levens Street
  • Southwest Park Street via Southwest River Drive
  • Southwest Westwood Drive 

 

This shelter offers:

  • A sink for convenient food preparation
  • Electrical outlets for powering equipment
  • 12 uncovered picnic tables, seating up to 150 people

Near the refurbished Japanese Garden, the Brandvold Kitchen area is a popular venue, notably hosting the annual Rotary Breakfast in the Park event.

Seibert Frederickson Memorial Shelter

The Seibert Frederickson Memorial Shelter is conveniently located adjacent to the playground equipment. Accessible via Southwest Academy Street, this newer shelter features: 

  • Electrical outlets for powering equipment
  • A spacious, covered seating area with 12 picnic tables
  • Ample capacity to accommodate up to 150 people 

This shelter offers a comfortable and convenient space for gatherings and events, making it an ideal choice for groups and families. 

John C. Barnard Shelter

John C. Barnard Park 

Located in the eastern part of the city at the corner of Fir Villa Rd. and Academy St. This newer shelter features:

  • Traditional, inclusive, and nature play structures
  • A basketball court
  • A pollinator meadow
  • Leisurely walking paths

The Barnard shelter offers a covered picnic area that can accommodate 25 to 40 people.
